Dre, and that he's locked him in his basement. For example: Actress Pamela Anderson's alleged abuse at the hands of her ex-husband, rocker Tommy Lee (Jaws all on the floor, like Pam, like Tommy just burst in the door, and started whoopin' her ass worse than before, they first were divorced, throwin' her over furniture)Įminem claims in one line to have murdered Dr. The song takes jabs at popular culture and news around at the time. Then 8-12 (starting with just don't give a fuck) are the songs that are much more introspective and personal, be it difficulties of living, outlook on life, and ending with Hailie/Kim which is the most personal. The song came about after Eminem submitted the record to Interscope and said it was one song short and CEO Jimmy Iovine suggested a song similar to My Name Is from The Slim Shady LP, approaching the deadline, Em wrote the song and recorded the song and released it as a single. Starts with introducing himself, followed by multiple songs that encapsulate how comically offensive and wild this person is, capping with Get You Mad that explains why he spits the content that he does. If I were to rearrange the order of that for fun: In the midst of my chronological relistening binge, I've saved whatever Em songs I found myself not skipping onto a playlist, and when I reached SSLP, these were the ones (excluding skits): Hmmm I think imma just comment on these posts based on just this qualification:Įntirely based on what you personally listen to, and skip So I guess my tracklist would look like this: Finally, to take it back up to 20 tracks, I'd probably add in Murder Murder either before or after Just Don't Give a Fuck. However, I feel like the only things that I would change are switch out Loung Skit and My Fault with Take The World With Me, and Switch out Cum on Everybody with Low Down, Dirty (I feel like the Ken Kaniff Skit would still be a funny lead into that song). It shows what Em's about perfectly, as well as maintaining a very similar level of quality all throughout the album that many rappers can't touch even when they're at their peak. Like, I personally prefer things like the Marshall Mathers LP and Relapse over it, but I feel this album is probably one of the best debut albums I've ever seen. I feel like this album is one that I often forget just how solid it is until I finally relisten to it/look through its tracklist. I completely removed I’m Shady as I couldn’t think of anything really good to replace it with and kept the other 3 tracks as the final ones. You can think of it as the replacement of My Fault, even tho it’s in a different place. Murder Murder details the robberies he commits. He ends Rock Bottom saying how he ends up stealing to survive. This was another user’s idea and I thought it was pretty good. Murder Murder (or Murder She Wrote if you prefer that) comes after Rock Bottom.

It’s such an amazing song, while the latter really dragged down SSLP imo. I then put Bad Influence instead of Cum On Everybody. I put Just Don’t Give A Fuck after Role Model in place of the Lounge skit, as another track was put in place of JDGAF. If I Had is pretty underwhelming when compared to Rock Bottom so it’s not very necessary imo. If I Get Locked Up replaced If I Had, as it’s fitting to come after the Paul Skit, where he’s told to tone down what he says. I replaced 3 songs and completely removed one, along with the Soap and Lounge skits. I'm excited for when we get to Encore and Revival, there will be lots more to discuss and change up. I also love skits normally, but I felt the Soap and Lounge skit are not that re-listenable. I didn't add many songs this time around since the album is great, just swapped out my least-listened to tracks with two of the SSEP tracks. I'd give it an 8.5/10, because some of the production I preferred from the EP version (Just Don't Give a Fuck, 97 Bonnie & Clyde), and the album is very similar throughout with little variation in songs (as opposed to TES which has a lot more variety in my opinion). I don't listen to it a whole lot, but I recognize it's greatness. Personally I think this album is perfect as it is. So, the question is: (Entirely based on what you personally listen to, and skip), if anything, what would you change by removing/rearranging/or adding scrapped songs to the album to make it perfect for you? If no changes, why do you think it's perfect as is?Ĭomment your own version (or if you stick with the official tracklist), rating out of 10, and thoughts on the album below! You are encouraged to share your opinions, thoughts, and playlist version for the chosen album. On the first Monday of every week, we will be going through each Eminem album and seeing what fans think about it.
